Case Study: Acid Bund Flooring

Epoxy Novolac patch of a chemical bund. This previously acid tiled area had experienced localised chemical attack over 20+ years by spillages of hot nitric acid and up to 92% ammonium nitrate at 100°C. The client needed a solution within a 72 hour time frame.

Unsuccessful attempts at patching this area using standard Bisphenol A epoxies had been made in the past.

Metz saw cut the perimeter, removed all loose tiles and the existing membrane as well as corroded concrete until a sound substrate was reached. The area was washed thoroughly, tested for pH and dried in preparation of the repair material.

Metz 10EN Epoxy Novolac concrete was used to repair the affected area at a thickness of up to 35mm.

Metz 10EN was then top coated with Metz 33EN-TG Epoxy Novolac Topping at 8mm and sealed with Metz 33EN Epoxy Novolac Sealer to provide a chemical and heat resistant, impermeable infill repair in a short period for the client.

Project: Acid Bund Flooring Date: June 2010 Location: Kooragang Island, NSW Installer: Metz Product: Metz 10EN, Metz 33EN-VG, Metz 33EN-Sealer
